In all seriousness, I had a long talk with a USAF F-35 pilot, and he said that with all the integrated computery stuff that is going into these modern fighters, they are looking for people with gaming and mental multitasking skills.

I got to fly a CRJ Level D sim during an interview with Atlantic Southeast Airlines back in 2005. Cool experience, and I managed to land it without bending anything. Didn’t get the job though; just as well seeing as
1st year salary for F/O new hires
was under $25k then.

So much for all seriousness, I guess.

Those aren’t the only reasons why the military wants soldiers raised on video games.

Yep. The current shortage has boosted new hire pay to 50-60k after all bonuses. It ain’t Rockefeller money but at least it’s not poverty wages anymore. And a hell of a lot more in line with flying a jet with 50-70 pax on board.

Flew regionals with a National Guard drone guy a few times. Said they won’t touch pilots when it comes to drones. Too much pre conceived opinions going in when actual flying is so much on the way out of drones. Back to level D-isms, they really are getting good with the electronic rams and actual stall testing data. So now stalls are accurately represented in some sims.

Check out the Airmen using the system.

The first time I flew my flight instructor asked if I had flown before or if I was a gamer. He said gamers have better hand - eye coordination and seem to learn to fly faster.

I’ll pay attention when charged pink explosive plasma ball s fire out of cannons. What is hilarious is the joystick theyre using at 1:30....I have that exact one. I wonder what they paid for it.

Probably about $20,000. The thing is, I watched that scene, with the 20-year-old Airmen, and realized that my sons are training to do exactly that job. They just don’t know it.
